Why Albania works for conferences
Albania is the one on this list that surprises people, and that is exactly why it works. Nobody in the group has been, so there is nothing to compare it to and no expectation to manage. Three hours by air, a coast that holds its own against Croatia and Greece, and prices that leave real room in the budget for the programme. It is less polished than its neighbours in places, which is worth knowing in advance – but the hotels that take groups are genuinely good, and the difference in cost is not small.
Hotels and meeting venues in Albania
Tirana has the conference capacity and the coast has the setting, so most trips use both. Maritim Hotel Plaza Tirana is the tallest building in the city with meeting floors and views across to the mountains. Rogner Hotel Tirana is the established alternative, set back from the boulevard in its own gardens, which makes it quieter for working sessions. On the coast, Melia Durres Albania takes whole groups at beach level about forty minutes from the capital. Standards have risen fast here, and the price still hasn't caught up.
Activities and dinners in Albania
Berat is the day trip that justifies itself – a UNESCO-listed Ottoman town of white houses stacked up a hillside, about two hours from Tirana and unlike anything the group will have seen. Kruja is closer, with a bazaar that has been trading in the same street since the fifteenth century. On the coast, boats run out to the beaches around Ksamil where the water is genuinely Caribbean-coloured. In Tirana itself, the cable car up Dajti Mountain takes fifteen minutes and ends with lunch above the city.

About 30–40 minutes by transfer from Tirana airport into the city, and around 40 minutes on to the coast at Durres.
When is the best time for a conference in Albania?
May to October. The coast is at its best from June, while May and September give you comfortable temperatures for anything inland and for the day trips to Berat and Kruja.
