Why Lofoten works for conferences
Lofoten is the trip that justifies the extra effort of getting there. The islands sit above the Arctic Circle with mountains rising straight from the water and villages that have looked much the same for two hundred years. A group that flies via Bodø and arrives to that has already had an experience before the first session starts. Two seasons work: the midnight sun from May to September, and the northern lights from January to March. Capacity is the limit – this is not a destination for four hundred people.

Hotels and meeting venues in Lofoten
Svolvær is the practical base, and Thon Hotel Lofoten is the largest option there with meeting facilities and a view straight out over the harbour. The alternative is the one groups remember: Svinøya Rorbuer, restored fishermen's cabins on stilts over the water, where the group sleeps in the buildings the islands were built around. Nusfjørd Arctic Resort does the same further south in a village that is protected in its entirety. Capacity across the islands is limited, so the group size decides the options rather than the other way round.

Activities and dinners in Lofoten
A RIB out to the Trollfjord is the one to build the day around – a narrow arm of water with cliffs on both sides, sea eagles overhead, and a boat fast enough that the journey is half the point. Fishing from Svolvær is the local industry rather than a tourist activity, and the catch becomes dinner. For walkers, Reinebringen is a steep climb with the view every photograph of Lofoten is taken from. In winter the northern lights sit directly overhead here.

FAQ
What's included in a Way trip?
We handle the whole thing: travel, accommodation, meeting venue, activities, transfers and project management, with on-site support during the trip.
What does a conference in Lofoten cost?
Prices start at around SEK 12,000 per person and depend on group size, accommodation, season and how much programme you want. Norway is expensive, and the connecting flight adds to it.
How do you get to Lofoten?
Four to five hours in total from Stockholm, flying via Oslo or Bodø and on to Svolvær or Leknes. It is the one destination on this list where the journey needs its own planning, and we build the connections so the whole group travels together.
How large a group does Lofoten take?
Lofoten suits smaller and mid-sized groups. There are only so many beds on the islands and the rorbuer are small by design, so tell us the numbers first and we will say straight away what is realistic.
When is the best time for a conference in Lofoten?
May to September for the midnight sun, hiking and boats, with June and July giving light around the clock. January to March for northern lights, when the weather is rougher and the days are short but the sky delivers.
