    Season

Edinburgh is a capital you can cross on foot, with a castle on a volcanic rock in the middle of it and the Highlands an hour away. Two and a half hours from Stockholm, English throughout, and a whisky tradition that gives every evening a structure. We handle flights, hotels, venues and programme.

Why Edinburgh works for conferences

Edinburgh gives a group something distinctive without asking much in return. Two and a half hours by air, English everywhere, and a city compact enough that nobody needs a bus – the castle, the old town and the conference venues are all within twenty minutes on foot. The Highlands start an hour outside, so a day out of the city is genuinely a change of landscape rather than a bus ride to a nearby town. The one thing to plan around is August, when the festival takes over completely.

Stay & venues

Hotels and meeting venues in Edinburgh

Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is the practical anchor for a working group – meeting space in house, and the Edinburgh International Conference Centre is next door if the group outgrows the hotel. The Balmoral is the landmark at the end of Princes Street, the one with the clock tower, and it changes how the trip feels. Radisson Collection sits on the Royal Mile itself, which puts the old town outside the door. Avoid August unless you have booked a year ahead – the festival takes every room in the city.

Activities

Activities and dinners in Edinburgh

A guided whisky tasting is the obvious anchor and it holds up – done properly, with someone explaining the regions, it turns into a conversation rather than a drinks reception. Highland games as a team exercise is the one people don't expect: caber toss, tug of war and a piper, run by instructors who take it just seriously enough. Arthur's Seat is a forty-minute climb from the city centre with the whole of Edinburgh below at the top. Evenings are easy – the old town closes and wynds are worth a guided walk before dinner.
